Hey, gang- had to break out the winter emergency monkey-hat today! If you’re in the Memphis area you’re probably snowed in like me. Well, if you need something to watch or listen to here are a few suggestions…
The MSCA’s latest “The Good, The Bad, and The Sketchy” gaming themed zine was featured on the Talking Small Press Comics YouTube podcast.
Special thanks to Dale Martin for sharing a couple copies with the hosts, Larned Justin and Steve Keeter. You can hear the guys discuss Issue #7 around the 11:40 mark of the show! (CLICK HERE TO WATCH)
You can find copies of our zine at local comic shops around town like Comics & Collectibles, 901 Comics, and The Cellar.
Our own Katie Jones has been interviewed lately. You can find out more about them on her That Katie Jones Art Studio Facebook Page, or watch the Memphis Entertainment Weekly Saturday morning radio show with Hosts Jill Santibanez & TJ Cates interview HERE (on The Mighty 990), and the GangLionAssembly “Frank Welker Wonder Hour” HERE.
There’s also a new episode of the MSCA’s “Drawing Funny” podcast available to download.
Show notes: My wife Nicki Workman joins me for this 55th episode. After a couple other attempts to record and different technical difficulties experienced I finally got a new one recorded, edited AND posted for this new year.
Nicki and I discuss her love of photography, going back to school for her MBA, our thoughts on 2023 Marvel movies/TV, the current social media scene, creator rights, attending comic cons, shopping at comic shops, and our recent New York City vacation.
There’s also some news on upcoming Mid-South Cartoonists Association events like the 901 Comics East Drink-N-Draw night and Sat-Art-Day, and MSCA monthly dinner meet-up at Garibaldi’s Pizza.
Thanks to Nicki (and Kevin L. Williams) for sitting down with me for this episode. You can download it HERE or just about any podcast platform such as iTunes or Spotify.
BTW– the weather is still bad so we’ll be cancelling the MSCA’s Drink-N-Draw at 901 Comics East on Wednesday this week. We’ll try and reschedule it for March.
We do have a Sat-Art-Day scheduled for February 17th at 901 Comics East.
Be sure to keep an eye out on our Facebook page and your inbox for any updates on the next Drink-N-Draw and other upcoming events. If you haven’t joined our MSCA mailing list be sure to hit Kev up at midsouthcartoonists(at)gmail(dot)com.
Stay safe and warm!
