Well, our first MSCA monthly dinner gathering of 2025 was a complete success! The weather was cold, but the streets were clear and we had a great turnout for our January get together at Garibaldi’s.

This time we had long time MSCA member Greg Cravens demo his Con Cards game for our group.

Gaming ringmaster Greg has not only taken his Con Cards circus sideshow set-up on the road to several conventions around town like ShadowCon, MCX, MCFC, and the Memphis Monster Con, but has also taken his card cart on the road at shows, too! It’s a very mobile and self-contained unit for selling and playing Con Cards.

After we had finished eating dinner, Greg explained the history behind the game he created and the basic gameplay of it. He then invited us to play a couple hands of the game with him.

Everyone seemed to catch on pretty quickly and had a great time playing for the first time.

Greg plans to play more at 901 Games in the near future, and will be set up and wandering the halls of MidSouthCon this March in Olive Branch, MS.

There are plans for a Con Cards MSCA expansion deck later this year featuring members and their original creations.

Our next monthly dinner gathering at Garibaldi’s will be on February 4th from 6-8pm. Our meet-ups are always free and open to all ages, but be sure to bring a few bucks to order off the menu- and if you’re not old enough to drive have a parent bring you to join us. Don’t forget to bring something to work on, show around, or share.

We also usually have a freebies table by the front door for you to leave for others or to take some for yourself.

A lot of things were discussed during this meeting including when the next zine is scheduled, who will be taking over the editing duties, and possible cons the MSCA will be a part of. Loads of  news and other announcements to come soon!
